H started dictating what G was saying yesterday afternoon. She was apparently frustrated at first, then caught on to what he was doing, then got aggravated again. Too funny:
Grace Collins Cope is a wonderful girl. Her papa loves her very, very, very much.
Grace is my friend. Like, um, like the Grace that gave me the purple dress. Um, Papa, I, um, I meant, like something else, but not that sentence I said. Don’t write the words I said. PLEASE! Please don’t write the sentence I said. Pleeeeaaaasse. I want you to stop. Now! PlEASE! Please stop. NOW! PAPA! Hmmph. Uggh. Now please stop. PLEASE! Now. Please. Please stop. Please – uuuugh. I’m confused about this. (sigh) Now please stop again. You gotta learn how to do this. How bout you can copy all the things that I say. Say what? You gotta do this. Huh. uuuuuugh. Why are you just doing this? Heh. Now why are you writing? Writing that? Hayne, why do you think I’m just a girl? Do you think of it? Hmm. Now. Now please stop. Papa! What’s going on with you? Now. Tell me. Please. Why are you doing this so wisely. What do you think I’m doing on this computer. This is awful of you. I hope you’re going wrong. Wrong. Now. What. You. Say. Why are you making this … why are you. Making. This. Are. You. Now Stop. PLEASE! Hmmph. This. Out. You. Go. Please stop. Now. Little kid. Hmmph.um. What do you think I’m laying on. I’m laying on you. That’s all I’m thinking about. Are you … Papa, can you go to a new one. You can write the words you want. THE END.
Once there was a little girl. She was a princess. She was beautiful.

Autumn 2010
It's been a while since I last caught up with photos and such ... so here goes:
Pajama day happened to coincide with G's 5th birthday. I was able to sneak in a take a few pictures without getting discovered. On the left is Corbin, her true love. On the right is Reese, her best friend.
Some brilliant parent got all the kids in the school candy apples. (sigh)
But the girls sure did enjoy them!
G really got into modelling her new princess dress for Halloween - N, on the other hand, wanted no part of it. She just hid in the corner and pouted.
Oma got N this dress a little while back. It's constantly in the wash. Whenever she has it on, she's delighted to be in her "yewwow dwess fwom Oma's house."
A dear, sweet lady from church named Louise Tower invited the Swann-Cope gals to tea. Oma, Mama and the chicklets got dolled up and tried to be on our best behavior for the fancy to-do.
The kids are role-playing by washing dishes. My only question is who modelled this sort of behavior - certainly not their mama (she uses the dishwasher)!!
The following are all from Grace's 5th birthday bash: (so sorry we didn't get pics of everyone who came!!) Thanks for all of you who made it such a special day!
Last, but not least, a few of the things I've done to try to maintain my sanity:

Resident Theologian
As many of you likely already know, G is our resident theologian. She's always saying something brilliant about God and God's love for us. I really ought to keep a notepad handy at all times, because she's always saying something terribly profound. Here is my best recollection of her prayer before supper tonight:
O God,
We love you.
You gave us the plants.
You made us the flowers.
You water them happily.
If you love God,
you will see everything.
We love you, God.
Amen.
Insightful, thought-provoking, and perfect evidence of how kids get God. And sadly, most adults spend their lives un-learning God. But that's a sermon for another day.
